Week 4 - RAID: Your system could use a Backup Buddy
Have you ever wondered how big systems keep data safe and fast simultaneously? That’s where RAID comes in! RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. Instead of relying on one hard drive, RAID combines them to boost speed, redundancy, or both. RAID 0 is all about speed but provides no redundancy. RAID 1, on the other hand, mirrors your data (makes an exact copy), providing redundancy like a twin or buddy that always has you back. RAID 5 provides a nifty mix of the two using a parity. RAID is not a replacement for a solid backup schedule. However, it is an awesome layer of protection that keeps things running smoothly when life throws a wrench in your spokes.
